Gardner, Merritt
April 14, 1934 - December 30, 2021
Merritt Gardner, 87, of Goshen, died Wednesday, December 30, 2021, due to an aortic tear.
He was born on April 14, 1934, in New York City to William H. and Katharine (Post) Gardner.
On March 26, 1961, Merritt married Ruth Ann Liechty at First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana. Merritt and Ruth Ann met while serving from 1958-60 as Mennonite Central Committee volunteer teachers in Newfoundland, Canada, where he served his alternative service as a member of the Society of Friends.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Ann, and five children: Tim (Michelle Rago) Gardner of Bronxville, New York; Jon (Anne) Gardner of Greenbelt, Maryland; Angela Gardner of Princeton, N.J.; Christa (Dwayne Lawler) Gardner of Bentonville, Arkansas; and Dan (Patrick Miller) Gardner of Atlanta. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Frances Kelly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Merritt was preceded in death by his parents and sister Priscilla Gardner.
Merritt graduated with a B.A. from Cornell University, an M.A. in education from Columbia University, and a Ph.D from Penn State University.
Merritt and Ruth Ann moved to Goshen, Indiana in 1969, when Merritt joined the Goshen College faculty as a mathematics professor. They became active members at Assembly Mennonite Church in its early days. Merritt and Ruth Ann were leaders in the outreach and Sunday worship on Goshen College campus. Their home was a place of welcome and hospitality for countless students and newcomers over the years.
Merritt taught at Goshen College for 29 years. After retirement, Merritt studied biblical Hebrew and Greek at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. He met regularly with an informal group at AMBS who honed their skills of these ancient languages by sharing their translations of biblical texts. Merritt’s translation of Psalm 23 became a favorite at Assembly Mennonite. Merritt was also known for his deep and resonant reading voice and delighted in reading scripture during worship services. He spent many hours translating biblical texts and creating readers’ theater of biblical stories. Recently, Merritt created visuals to accompany his recorded reading of numerous psalms, which have been used especially in Zoom worship services during the pandemic.
Merritt enjoyed using his theatrical skills in plays at Goshen College, local theater productions, and summer Bible school dramas.

Garman, Henry Z.
June 4, 1937 - December 14, 2021
Henry Z. Garman, 84, of New Holland, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. He was married 63 years to Erma (Fox) Garman. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Henry S. and Susie (Zimmerman) Garman.
Henry was self-employed as a long-distance truck driver for over 50 years, most recently with E.K. Bare & Sons before his retirement. Over the years he hauled mostly potatoes but also, milk, cattle, candy and even moved families within PA and to various states.
He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church. Henry was a farmer at heart and loved to work, visit and spend time with his family at his cabin in Snyder County.
Surviving besides his wife are six children, Elvin (Lori Hoster) Garman of Gouglersville, Vernon (Joanne Martin) Garman of East Earl, Dennis (Sandy Hackman) Garman of Ephrata, Janelle (Wilmer) Musser of Ephrata, Dean (Karen Martin) Garman of Lititz, and Diane (Randy) Reiff of Ephrata; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and eight siblings, John Garman of Ephrata, Laura (Mervin) Martin of Roaring Springs, PA, Susan Reiff of Fortuna, MO, Anna Martin of Goshen, IN, Aaron (Ella) Garman of Penn Yan, NY, Ruth (Elmer) Oberholtzer of New Enterprise, PA, Clarence (Alta) Garman of Narvon, and Alta Zimmerman of Orchard, IA. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Logan and Azlynn Garman and five siblings, Levi, Irvin, and Ivan Garman, Mary Nolt and Eva Martin.
The family wishes to thank Hospice & Community Care, Fairmount Homes, and Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital for the excellent care provided to Henry over the course of his illness.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A Viewing will be held at the church on Monday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Gehman, Allen W.
November 6, 1917 - October 5, 2021
Allen W. Gehman, 103, formerly of Stevens, passed away on October 5, 2021, as a resident of Fairmount Homes. Born in Brecknock Township, Berks County, he was the son of the late Henry L. and Anna (Weber) Gehman. He was the loving husband of the late Lucy E. (Horning) Gehman, with whom he married on October 8, 1944.
Allen was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church and employed by Good’s Potato Chips in Adamstown for twenty years. He was a Sunday School teacher, a volunteer at Mennonite Central Committee since 1992 and a volunteer at Christian Aid for ten years. He had assisted with the Civilian Public Service during WWII. He enjoyed reading.
Allen is survived by children; Rachel widow of John Brubacker of Shillington, Anna wife of Marvin Groff of Stevens, Sara wife of David Martin of Reedsville, David A. husband of Faye of East Earl, twenty-one grandchildren, sixty-eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister; Mary Gehman of Landis Homes.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a daughter, Eunice and her husband Donald Heisey and siblings; John W. Gehman, Alice Good, Elsie Gehman and Veronica Youndt.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA 17519 with Pastor Larry Weber officiating. There will be a viewing held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery at the conclusion of the service.

Gerber, Olive A. Handrich
May 15, 1929 - January 7, 2021
Olive A. Gerber, 91, of Goshen, died at 6:10 am, on Thursday, January 7 at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen.
She was born on May 15, 1929, in Mio, MI, to Oliver and Ada (Shantz) Handrich. On August 25, 1945 in Mio, MI she married Raymond Gerber; he died April 11, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Gerber of Canmer, KY, Connie (Brian) Narmore of Grawn, MI; three sons, J.D. (Joy) Gerber of White Pigeon, MI, Daniel (Renee) Gerber of Hardyville, KY, Timothy (Valerie) Gerber of Goshen; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Bernice Gerber.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Lola Handrich, Luella Esch, and Jean Hoover; three brothers, Donald, Richard, and Harry Handrich.
Olive was a homemaker and attended Griner Church. She enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, and baking.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to noon on Saturday, January 9 followed by a 1:00 pm funeral service at Griner Church, 12418 CR 20, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Robert Riegsecker.
Burial will be in Griner Cemetery.

Gingerich, Mary Ellen Schlabach
June 20, 1927 - January 8, 2021
Mary Ellen Gingerich, age 93, of Milford, passed away at 5:37 am, Friday, January 8, 2021 at Goshen Hospital. She was born June 20, 1927 in LaGrange County to Jacob and Lydia Ann (Miller) Schlabach. She married John Gingerich in LaGrange on February 28, 1946. He passed away March 9, 2014.
Mary Ellen has lived in the Milford area for 65 years. She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church for all of those years. She was active as a Sunday School teacher and in the Sewing Circle. Mary Ellen enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all of her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn (Jerry) Helmuth, Wakarusa, Audrey (Eldon) Miller, Nappanee, Jane (Art) Hershberger, Dillwyn, VA; sons, Merrill (Lola) Gingerich, Phillip (Jane) Gingerich, both of Milford; 19 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; half-sister, Katie Kuhns, Topeka; half-brother, Clarence Schlabach, Dalton, WI; and sister-in-law, Ida Mae Schlabach, LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her husband, to whom she was married for 68 years; parents; grandson, Kevin Miller; great grandchildren, Trent Martin and Emily Kauffman; brothers, Alvin and Walter Schlabach; 4 half brothers; 3 half sisters; 3 step brothers; and 5 step sisters.
Family and friends may call from 2-6, Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for 1 hour prior to the 10:00 am Funeral Service, Monday, January 11th at Salem Mennonite Church. Pastor Terrill Yoder will officiate. The service will be live streamed at salemmennonite.church. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Gingerich, Naomi Ruth "Ginger"
September 18, 1945 - July 27, 2021
Naomi Ruth "Ginger" Gingerich, 75, went home to the arms of her beloved Jesus from her home in Lititz on July 27, 2021. She was born September 18, 1945, in Linwood, Michigan and grew up in Versailles, MO.
She attended Heston College in Kansas and then completed a general diploma in nursing at Kansas City General Hospital. She was a highly respected and compassionate RN in many settings, including Kansas City, Lancaster General Hospital, Baltimore, Sarasota, Heart of Lancaster Regional Hospital, Hospice of Lancaster County, and most recently Linden Hall School in Lititz. She ministered in each setting with a memorable blend of efficiency, competency and warmth, making friends everywhere she went. She was known for her huge heart and listening ear as well as her zany wit and lively sense of humor. She loved to travel nationally and internationally, and had been in all but one of the US States. She was a member of Newport (Dove) Church and spread the love of her Lord wherever she went.
She was predeceased by her parents, LeRoy and Mary Alice Gingerich and her brother, Jim Gingerich, and is survived by her nephew, Rob Crain, niece, Deborah Washburn, grandniece, Samantha Woodall, grandnephew, Ryan Gingerich and many other beloved family members.
There will be a visitation at Dove Westgate Church, 1755 West Main St., Ephrata, PA on August 13 from 6-9 PM and August 14 from 8-11 AM, followed by a memorial service starting at 12 noon.

Sovilla A. Gingerich 85, of Arthur, Illinois passed away at 12:37 P.M. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at her son’s residence in Arthur. Illinois.
Sovilla was born on April 7, 1936 in Arthur, Illinois to Andrew L and Lydia (Schrock) Mast. She married Elva W Gingerich on December 8, 1955.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, 4 sons and 1 daughter: Glen & Eloise of Arthur, Dannie & Laura of Arthur, Mary of Sullivan, Steve & Karen of Sullivan, and Duane & Tammi of Sullivan. 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. 1 sister-in-law Mrs. Fred (Mary) Mast of Myerstown, PA.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, 3 sisters: Sarah Gingerich, Anna Plank, & Rebecca Hochstetler; 5 brothers: Will, Jonas, Levi, Fred, and Joe Mast.
Sovilla was a charter member of Trinity Christian Fellowship. She was an involved farm wife and a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting.
Visitation will be held on Monday January 3, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday January 4, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Trinity Christian Fellowship in rural Arthur, IL. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 5, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the Otto Center in Arthur, IL. Burial will be in the Trinity Christian Fellowship Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL.

Gingrich, Mary Elizabeth
December 6, 1927 - October 19, 2021
Mary Elizabeth Gingrich, 93, of Landis Homes, previously Landisville, PA. Joined the loving arms of her heavenly Father on October 19 2021. Born December 6, 1927 Mary’s Life verse was Isaiah 41:10; Fear not for I am with you do not be afraid for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. God’s blessing was truly on Mary’s life.
Born to T. Edison & Mary Musser Gingrich, Lancaster, Mary spent her life giving of herself to others. Always sharing with those who had little, loving the unlovely and caring for those who needed a friend.
A lifelong member of Landisville Mennonite Church, Mary taught Sunday school & Bible school. In addition, she spent 2 weeks of every summer teaching Bible school at Steam Valley. She worked in Nursing as a CNA for 30 years at the Mennonite home, LGH and Calvary Homes. After her career she spent many years volunteering at the LGH Health Campus day surgery center. She was one of the first volunteers when the center was opened in 1994. Everyone who knew Mary, loved her friendly smile and quick step in getting the work done all the while making you feel special.
Mary loved spending time on her brother John’s farm helping with the chores and children. Her 21 nephews and nieces became her children as she loved them all deeply. Mary was a valiant prayer warrior. She was concerned that every person knew that Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life. Mary spent much time praying for her 2 missionary brothers, Paul and James and their families during their years of service far from home. Mary loved music, reading, traveling with friends and family. Mary was a wonderful cook and hostess, opening her home to many over the years. And her tapioca pudding will be sorely missed. Mary’s passing will leave a huge hole in the family as she could best be described as a selfless, servant of love.
Mary is survived by her sister, Martha Charles Sangree, brother, James M. and wife Joan Gingrich, and many many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, John M. Gingrich and wife Blanche Kreider Gingrich. He brother, Paul M. Gingrich and wife Ann Keener Gingrich, brothers-in-law, Ivan Charles & Paul Sangree, niece, Bonita Gingrich and nephew, Nelson Gingrich.
A private viewing and burial will take place at the discretion of the family with a celebration of life at Landisville Mennonite Church on November 20, 2021 at 4 PM.

Gingrich, Orpha Wert
December 27, 1926 - March 30, 2021
Orpha W. Gingrich, 94, of Evendale, went to be with Jesus at 4:51 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 27, 1926 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Michael W. and Alma (Lauver) Wert.
On June 22, 1947, she married her late husband, J. Lloyd Gingrich, with whom she was blessed to share over 72 years of marriage before his passing on April 11, 2020. Together, they farmed for many years in Evendale.
She is survived by: her children, Margaret Varner and her husband Tim of McAlisterville, John M. Gingrich and his wife Rosanne of Richfield, David Gingrich and his wife Phyllis of Thompsontown, Dale Gingrich and his wife Gladys of Richfield, Barbara Gingrich of Richfield, Paul Gingrich and his wife Debra of Dillsburg, and Marie Vredevelt and her husband Kirk of Alto, MI; twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wert and his wife Mary; a sister, Alene Yoder and her husband Mark; and a brother-in-law, Vernon Zehr.
Mrs. Gingrich attended Fayette High School and graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School in 1942. Her employment included working in the McAlisterville sewing factory for two years and taught at Liberty one-room school and at Belleville Mennonite School after having attended Millersville Teacher's College.
Orpha was a homemaker who enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren for whom she prayed every day. She sent birthday cards to all of them as long as she was able. Opening her home to others, even those from around the world, her warm and accepting spirit blessed many. She enjoyed gardening, particularly her flowers, preserving food, making butter and selling it, and sewing, especially making doll clothes in later years. A highlight was a trip to Europe and a trip to the Holy Land.
Her church membership included Lauvers Mennonite Church in Evendale where she will be remembered as a Sunday school Teacher for many years. She loved reading, especially the Bible and memorized 1st John and a significant amount of the Gospel of John. For many years, she also led neighborhood Bible studies.
A Co-Celebration of Life for J. Lloyd and Orpha Gingrich will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Lauvers Mennonite Church, 34585 Route 35 North, Richfield, with their son, Pastor David Gingrich, Pastor Curtiss Kanagy, and Pastor Glenn Lauver officiating. Interment of Mrs. Gingrich will follow in the Lauvers Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing for Mrs. Gingrich will be held from 4-8 PM on Sunday, April 4, 2021 and from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 5, 2021, all being held from the Lauvers Mennonite Church.

Glenn, Dovie "Lutisha" Love
February 7, 1937 - May 21, 2021
Dovie "Lutisha" Love Glenn, 84, Harrisonburg, passed away May 21, 2021 in Virginia.
Lutisha was born on February 7, 1937, in Buena Vista, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Claudie Ewellington and Sarah McKinster Love. She attended high school in Amanda, Ohio, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hocking Hills Mennonite Church, Logan, Ohio.
On December 4, 1954, she married Bennie Glenn, who preceded her in death October 16, 2012.
Surviving are Gwendolyn Joyce King, of Florida; Randel Kurtis Glenn, of Ohio; Susan Kim Martin, and husband, Vernon, of Wisconsin; Pamela Roxanne Chupp and husband, Raymond, of Virginia; Nathanael Quinzell Glenn and wife, Tammy, of Virginia; Veasy Eric Glenn, and wife, Valerie, of Idaho; Benjamin Todd Glenn and wife Kimberly, of Virginia, 38 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her husband, Lutisha was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Byron Glenn.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Hocking Hills Mennonite Church, 14865 State Route 595, Logan. Interment will be in Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill. Friends may call at the Hocking Hills Mennonite Church on Monday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Glick, Mary "Jane" Zimmerman
August 19, 1939 - February 26, 2021
Mary Jane Zimmerman Glick, 81, of Ephrata, passed away February 26, 2021.
She was the wife of John R. Glick who preceded her in death in 2014 and was the daughter of the late Harvey Zimmerman and the late Robert and Mabel (Klopp) Sweigart.
Jane was a very strong woman, fighting against cancer four times and more recently heart issues.
She worked in the garment industry and sold Avon. Camping and traveling were a big part of her life with her husband. She was a member of the Early Bird Walking club and TOPS Club for 28 years; never missing a day of walking since joining. She loved riding her bike and walking the neighborhood, visiting neighbors along the way. She loved her pet dog, Katie, who went with her on walks and bike rides. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed attending her various clubs.
Jane loved life and lived it to the fullest! She was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three daughters, Susie, wife of Tom Brossman, Debbie, wife of Marvin Weiler, Judy, wife of John Echternach; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Frable.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Glick, Mervin
February 1, 1959 - March 23, 2021
Mervin Glick, 62, of Paradise, PA went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2021. Married to the love of his life, Naomi Fisher, at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, on August 25th 1979.
Survived by: wife Naomi Glick (married 42 years), sons; Richard Glick, Michael (Angela) Glick, Eric Glick and Ryan (Aslyn) Glick, siblings; John (Lois) Glick, Kate (Roy) Zook, Sue Glick, and Ray Glick and his father Elmer Glick. Preceded in death by beloved mother, Anna Glick.
Merv was a born entrepreneur. Helping his father Elmer start Black Bear Structures at 14 years old. Merv and his brother-in-law, Roy grew and successfully ran the company for over 25 years. During this time Merv loved giving his time being a volunteer fireman with Robert Fulton Fire Co in Peach Bottom. His family remembers the countless midnight calls Merv would respond to, giving up his sleep and time with his family to go help those in need. During this period of life Merv and Naomi were also members of Dove Christian Fellowship. They loved the community and friends gained during this time of their lives.
A native of Lancaster County, Merv loved his hometown. But one of his life highlights was pulling up roots, selling his business, and moving his family to the small central Virginia town of Farmville. The family moved to a beautiful farm with all the space a young family could hope for. Here he fulfilled a lifelong goal of farming and running his own cattle farm as well as continuing his entrepreneurial spirit by starting another shed business that is still running strong to this day. Merv and Naomi were also very active members of New Life Church in Farmville. During this period of life many lifelong friends were made and was a treasured time for him and his family.
Upon moving back to Lancaster, Merv ran a lawn care and landscaping company and was a Realtor at Kingsway realty for 7 years. While not the longest of Merv's careers he loved this job and made even more lifelong friends. Merv and Naomi were also members at The Worship Center in Leola, PA.
Merv loved life and loved his family and friends. He loved his four boys and passed along his hard work and love of life. He adored and loved his wife Naomi and put her needs above his at all times. He was an amazing example of a good man to his boys.
He was an incredibly genuine, caring, and a fun loving man. A great husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 29, at 10:00 AM at the Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Frank Potter officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held at the church on Sunday from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Monday, however the family will greet friends following the service.

Lois (Hauge) Goering; beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on October 24, 2021 at the age of 68.
Lois Goering is survived by her husband; Curby Goering of North Newton, KS; her children; Carmen (Jason) Weller of Walton, KS and their five children; Chastity (William) Barnett of West Columbia, TX and their five children; and Christopher (Ashley) Goering of Branson, MO and their three children; her siblings; Barbara Hinrichs and Sharon Gunafson; and several nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by her parents; Inga and Helbert Hauge; her sister, Doreen Porter; and her brother, Loren Hauge.
Lois was born on August 21, 1953 on her mother's birthday in Mahnomen, MN, as the youngest of 5 children. Her family resided on a farm near Winger, MN before moving to town when Lois was a teenager. She graduated high school in 1971 and attended Bible School in Fergus Falls, MN. She took an adventure to Alaska where she married her husband, Curby Goering, in 1978. After the birth of their first child, Carmen, in 1980, the young family moved to Minnesota to be closer to Lois's family. While living in Fergus Falls, Lois and Curby welcomed Chastity in 1981 and Christopher in 1983. Lois and her family realized their dreams in 1990 with the purchase of a small hobby farm near Becker, MN. In 1997, the Goering family moved to Moundridge, KS to be closer to Curby's family. Over the next several years, Curby and Lois became beloved in-laws and grandparents. They have 13 grandchildren.
Lois was an active part in her church, Bible studies, community groups, and political organizations, but the joy of her life was being a Grammy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and took every opportunity to support them and her children. Faith and family meant the world to Lois.
Lois will be remembered for her hospitality, genuine spirit, compassion, joyful laugh, passion for animals, love for her family and friends, and strong faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a sweet legacy that will live on in all who knew her.
A public viewing will be on Monday, November 8 at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, KS from 5-9 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Eastlawn Cemetery near Newton on Tuesday, November 9 at 8:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service following at 10:00 a.m. at Kingdom Life Ministries in Hesston, KS.

SALEM — Doran Seth Good, 4 months, peacefully passed away in his father's arms Thursday (July 29) at his home.
Doran was born April 2 in Canton, son of Chadwin and Esther Shaum Good.
Doran was an angel of God who was gifted to his parents who tenderly loved and cared for him.
He was adored by his sisters Shianne, Jerilyn, Jessilyn and Lavonda; and a brother, Adrian, all of the home. He was also loved by his grandparents, Wilmer and R. Marie Shaum of Columbiana and Dana and Lydia Ann Good of West Salem; and his great-grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and many others.
The family will receive friends Sunday (Aug. 1) from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sharon Mennonite Fellowship, Green Beaver Road, Salem. Funeral services will be held Monday (Aug. 2) at 10 a.m. at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, Leetonia. Burial will take place at Sharon Mennonite Fellowship, Salem.

Edith Elaine Good, 85, of Dayton, Va., passed away Feb. 23, 2021, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. She was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Rockingham County to the late Warren C. and Ina E. Koogler Showalter.
Edith was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Mennonite Fellowship. She loved birds and flowers and was known for her delicious food.
On Nov. 11, 1959, she married Lewis Edwin Good, who preceded her in death Feb. 1, 2008.
Surviving are six children, Susan Joanna Heatwole of Dayton, Franklin Conrad Good and wife, Anna, of Dayton, Deborah Elaine Showalter and husband, Ray “Buff”, of Dayton, Christian Phillip Good and wife, Rebecca, of Linville, Michelle Good Showalter and husband, Harry Lee, of Bridgewater and Helen LaRue Brunk and husband, Chester, of Singers Glen; eight sisters, Martha Knicely, Betty Witmer, Anna Knicely, Mary Catherine Showalter, Reba Rhodes, Ina Ethel Showalter, Lula Hofer and Sarah Showalter; one brother, Galen Showalter; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
One son-in-law, Steven P. Heatwole, preceded her in death.

Elmira M. Good, 92, of Bowmansville, passed away on August 16, 2021.
Born in Bowmansville to the late Walter S. and Emma (Good) Groff, Elmira was the wife of the late Rufus E. Good who passed away in 1992.
Elmira was a life member of Pine Grove Church, Bowmansville. During her working years she was a bookkeeper and worked in the Sales Planning Dept. at Weaver's Chicken in New Holland (now known as Tyson Chicken), New Holland Farmers National Bank & Trust Co., and New Holland Finance Co.
She enjoyed knitting, needlework, reading, word searches, the Phillies, spending time with her family, and playing games with friends. She worked with the exhibits at the New Holland Farmers Day Association for many years and was a retired Honorary Director.
She was very active in her church, playing the organ for 60 years. She taught Sunday School and helped a friend begin Market Place Bible School ministry. She was also involved with Triple B, Pioneer Club, Released Time, and Women in Mission.
She is survived by a son Dwight D. Good of New Holland and a daughter-in-law, Joan (Binkley) Good, two granddaughters, Alicia Brackbill wife of John Brackbill and Melissa Krug, wife of Adam Krug, three great-grandchildren, Iain, Ainsley, and Galen Brackbill.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Douglas L. Good in 1987 and a sister, Erla G. Wise in 2017.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 28, at 11:00 A.M. at Pine Grove Church, 1194 Reading Road, Bowmansville. Joanne Esther Kratz Good, 87, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, died January 17, 2021, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation in Harrisonburg, where she had been a resident for 17 years.
Joanne was born November 21, 1933, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and was the eldest daughter of Warren Alderfer Kratz, and Mary Wenger Martin Kratz, whose home was in Whitmer, West Virginia at that time.
Joanne began her education at the Italy Elementary School in Whitmer, and after her family moved to Harrisonburg, she continued her elementary education at Pleasant Hill, Rushville, and the Mt. Carmel Parochial Schools. After graduating from Eastern Mennonite High School, she attended Eastern Mennonite College (now EMU), then for several years studied at Messiah Bible School in Ohio.
On July 8, 1967, she was married to Robert Lee Good of Ohio, who preceded her in death June 6, 2011.
She was a lifetime member of the Mennonite Church and was a long-time children's Sunday school teacher in churches in Virginia and West Virginia. She was a member of the Pike Mennonite Church and also attended the Mabel Memorial Chapel because of its accessibility from HHRC. For several years she worked as a nurse aid at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, then at Davis Memorial Hospital and Golden Clinic in Elkins, West Virginia. She also worked at Valley Books, Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation, and Continuing Care. For years Joanne sold McNess, Fuller Brush, and other products door-to-door in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, and made many friends in doing so. Eventually, she and Robert opened a store in the Dayton Market, known as "This 'N That." In spite of numerous difficulties in life, Joanne maintained a strong faith in Christ, her Saviour, and a positive attitude regarding the circumstances she experienced in her sojourn on earth. As her transition time approached, she grew in her anticipation for the fulfillment of Jesus' promise when He said, "I will…receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
Joanne is survived by a sister, Ruby Petersheim (John Petersheim) and a brother, Paul Kratz (Evelyn Wenger Kratz), three nieces and two nephews: Gail Petersheim of Rockingham County, Sheri Petersheim Rodes (Glen Rodes) of Rockingham County, Nelson Petersheim (Kammi Miller Petersheim) of Flower Mound, Texas, Celah Kratz Pence (Dr. Robert Pence) of Bridgewater, and Christon Kratz (Martha Blosser Kratz) of Harrisonburg.
She is also survived by seven grand nieces and three grand nephews: Kelsie Rodes, Cara Rodes, Corbin Petersheim, Tori Petersheim, Katherine Pence, Rebecca Pence, David Pence, Elizabeth Pence, Megan Kratz, and Nathanael Kratz.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation for the excellent care they have given Joanne over the years, and especially during the last eleven months with all the extra effort required during the COVID pandemic.

WEST SALEM – Lydia Ann Good, 71, of West Salem, Ohio departed this life November 15, 2021, following a period of declining health. She passed away peacefully at home, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was born in Ashland on October 25, 1950 to the late Elam and Lydia (Imhoff) Weaver.
She accepted Christ in her youth and was a member of Maple Hill Mennonite Church at the time of her passing.
On November 1, 1970, she married Dana Good, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 daughters and 3 sons, Shanda of Wooster, Charlene (Joseph) Glick of Massillon, Cheryl of Wadsworth, Cynthia and Charity of West Salem, Christopher (Freda) of West Salem, Chadwin (Esther) of Lisbon, and Carlin of West Salem; 18 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Edith (John) Peterson of Caledonia, and Naomi (Junior) Richard of Wooster; 4 brothers, Harvey (Ina) Weaver of Goshen IN, Melvin (Ruth) Weaver of Reinholds, PA, Virgil (Janet) Weaver of Wooster, Elam C. (Martha) Weaver of Shippensburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Doris Weaver of Wooster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Randall Glick and Doran Good; 2 brothers, Elmer and Roy Weaver.

Farmersville, PA - Mary G. Good, 78, died at her son’s home in Castorland, NY on Friday, December 3, 2021 under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice Inc.
Mrs. Good was born on May 12, 1943 in Ephrata the daughter of the late Clyde and Minnie (Groff) Martin.She married John R. Good on October 7, 1967 at Churchtown Mennonite Church. Mary worked for the Landis Home in Lititz, in housekeeping, retiring after 20 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, John who died on December 2, 1995. Mary enjoyed quilt making and made one for all of her grandchildren. Most recently she liked to read and do puzzles.
She is survived by her three children, James I. (Rebecca) Good of Castorland, NY and Earl D. (Louise) Good of Ephrata; and Barbara Good of Ephrata; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a sister, Grace Redcay; two sisters-in-law, Faye Martin; Pauline Zimmerman; nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her brother, Walter Martin, and sister, Betty Zimmerman and her husband Noah. Mary was a member of Texter Mountain Mennonite Church.

Mary Jane (Eshleman) Good, 95, joined her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2021 at Landis Homes where she lived for the last 22 years. Born in Ephrata, Mary Jane was to married Charles S. Good for 58 years. She was an avid bible teacher at Ridgeview Mennonite and student of God's word. Mary Jane worked at Rutts Kitchens as an interior decorator and waitressed at Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant. She loved tending her flowers and spending time with her children singing songs, playing games and working together in the garden. She loved animals and even had a pet squirrel named Frisky.
She is survived by 4 children Leon Good, Dale Good, Marion Redcay and Dorothy Groff, 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

DALTON, OHIO -- Melvin H. Good, age 77, of Dalton, Ohio, died Monday, May 17, 2021, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton following a period of declining health while battling Multiple Sclerosis for 30 years.
Melvin was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Orrville, Ohio, to the late Willard and Valley (Horst) Good and graduated from Dalton High School in 1961. He married Doreen Wenger on April 29, 1972, in Dalton. Doreen survives.
He worked as the owner and operator of Good Haven Dairy for 34 years, retiring in 1995.
Melvin was a member of East Union Mennonite Church. He loved to sing, knew how to be a friend to many, loved the outdoors and animals, was an avid reader of his Bible, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and giving them a ride on his golf cart.
Surviving are two sons, Eric (Laura) Good of Dayton, Va., and Elliot (Karla) Good of Dalton, Ohio; two daughters, Julie (Matthew) Stutzman of Baltimore, Md., and Terri (Josh) Schlabach of Wilmington, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, Olivia, Heath, and Maxwell Good, Keziah, Samuel, Selah, and Olive Stutzman, Jeremiah, Leviticus, Pearl, and Cora Schlabach, Luke, Ethan, Hannah, Seth, and Timothy Good; two brothers, Wilbur (Janet) Good of New Franklin, Ohio, and Mark (Louella) Good of Dalton, Ohio; three sisters, Edith (Paul) Horst of Williamsburg, Ky., Catherine (Ralph) Miller of Plain City, Ohio, and Margaret (Johnny) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Ohio; sister-in-law, Eileen Good of Dalton, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Don Showalter of Sarasota, Fla.

Wilmer Z. "Wil" Good, 81, of Lititz, formerly of Riverdale, MD. passed away from cancer on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Landis Homes. Born on October 21, 1939 in Terre Hill, PA, he was the son of the late Lester B. and Mabel (Ziemer) Good. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Martin) Good with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Ann Sauder, wife of Jeff of Venice, FL, Donna Sudbrook, wife of Don of Ellicott City, MD, Bill Good, husband of Kathy of Stevens, PA, and Eddie Good, husband of Janine of Chesapeake Beach, MD. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Evangeline Martin, wife of Landis of East Earl, PA and Mary Good of New Holland, PA.
Wil was a member of Landis Valley Christian Fellowship and formerly a member of Capital Christian Fellowship in Lanham, MD.

Charles Goss, Sullivan, Illinois, age 94, passed peacefully with family at his bedside on Wednesday morning, September 22, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, Illinois. Charles was born January 19, 1927, to Charles E. and Nora (Weaver) Goss, of Nappanee, Indiana. He married Edna Marie (Miller) Goss on August 20, 1950. They were married for 68 years until her passing in December 2018. Charles and Edna lived life on their farm, raising 5 children, while instilling a strong work ethic, and teaching them to love the Lord. Charles and Edna were charter members of Quinn Chapel Mennonite Church, now North Vine Mennonite Church, Arthur, Illinois.

Farm Life brought fulfillment to Charles. His ingenuity was evident in every aspect of their family life on the farm. From tilling the soil, to raising cattle and hogs, to customizing and creating in his Shop—Charles found great satisfaction in making every-day tasks more efficient. In his mind’s eye, he could see a desired outcome and with a cutting torch, a welder, and his innate engineering ability, Charles created hundreds of useful time-saving tools and equipment over the decades.
Charles loved to read and enjoyed engaging conversations with family and friends. He was a life-long learner and faithful follower of Jesus who lived his faith by helping others and giving of his time and his talents.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, September 25, at the family farm at 1350 CR 1400 N, Sullivan. A private family service will follow the visitation. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Mennonite Church Cemetery, Chesterville. Memorials are suggested to the Sunnyside Mennonite Church Rebuilding Fund. Dr. Harry L. Graber, 90, of West Liberty, Ohio passed away Thursday evening, November 18, 2021, at Green Hills Community in West Liberty.
Dr. Graber was born in Leo, Indiana August 23, 1931, to the late Benjamin and Anna (Liechty) Graber. He married Roberta Mae Schertz December 22, 1957, in Fisher, Illinois and she preceded him in death September 15, 2007. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and a step-son-in-law, John Thomas.
Dr. Graber is survived by his current wife, Kathleen (Cantrell) Graber of West Liberty, whom he married July 26, 2008, in Cincinnati. He is also survived by daughters: Cheryl L. (Kenneth) Shank of West Liberty, and Rhonda S. (Myron) Blosser of Harrisonburg, Virginia; sons: Rodney C. (Hope) Graber of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Charles L. Graber of Bellefontaine; grandchildren: Benjamin (Sarah) Roth Shank, Esther (Stewart) Nafziger, Jacob (Kaitlyn) Shank, Kurtis Blosser, Kelsey (Everett) Brubaker, Bryce Blosser, Patrick Graber, Liesl (Seth) Dandurand, and Larissa Graber; five great-grandchildren: Mahlon and Asher Blosser, Loam Brubaker, Liam Nafziger, and Eden Roth Shank; step-grandson, Gray Urglavitch; God-son, Albert (Elizabeth) Massaquoi; numerous nieces and nephews; Kathy’s daughters: Ann Thomas, Candace (Max) Sharp, and Caroline (Larry) Arnett; and her eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Dr. Graber was an elementary teacher for several years in Indiana and also on the Navajo reservation in Arizona before going to medical school. He was a founding doctor at Oak Hill Medical and the Cardiology Associates at Mary Rutan Hospital. Dr. Graber was active in the community as a member of West Liberty – Salem school board for many years and completed sports physicals for their athletes. He faithfully attended local football and basketball games over his lifetime. He was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty and the local Gideon chapter, as well as serving on Mercy Ship missions several times.
Dr. Graber participated in research identifying cardiac genetic disorders while he was an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and had five hole-in-ones to his credit. At the age of 90, he was routinely playing golf and scoring below his age! He founded with Dr. Dodson, the West Liberty fastpitch softball team “Paradox.” Dr. Graber also enjoyed spending time gardening, walking in nature, looking at trees – taking care of the health of the whole person. A published author, he wrote “The Making of A Physician: This Is My Calling.” Dr. Graber was a godly man, with a gentle disposition and caring heart.

Samuel Graber, 94, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, died at 7:10 pm on Friday, October 1 at Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart. He was born on April 6, 1927, in Middlebury, to Abe and Robena (Roth) Graber. On December 24, 1947, in Middlebury, he married Adeline Kauffman, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 74 years are daughter, Sonya (Tom) Miller of Middlebury; three sons, Lawrence "Larry" (Karen) Graber of Sarasota, FL, Mark (Yolanda) Graber, Samuel Jay (Grace) Graber both of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Riegsecker of Middlebury, Ruby (Floyd) Miller of White Pigeon, MI; two sisters-in-law, Cora Graber of Three Rivers, MI, Edna Graber of Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Dean) Miller; stillborn son, John David Graber; six brothers, Dan Graber, Allen Graber, Ezra Graber, Joe Graber, Ervin Graber, Floyd Graber; three infant sisters.
Sam spent time as a Sea-going Cowboy, a farmer and an entrepreneur. He purchased a housing development in Kodiak, Alaska from the government and re-sold houses to individual buyers. Sam enjoyed wood carving and was a great storyteller. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Middlebury.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 5 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 6, at Miller Cemetery, 14153 CR 126, Goshen, for a graveside service. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 6 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Phil Yoder. Memorials may be given to First Mennonite Church Mission Fund.

May 14, 2019 - June 30, 2021
Tyson Lee Graber, 2, born May 14, 2019, went to be with Jesus on June 30, 2021 after an accident claimed his life on earth. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia Mennonite Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 3-4:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021.
Tyson means 'fiery', a name which suited him well since he began his life as a NICU preemie at 31 weeks gestation. He was born to Quinten and Evie Graber and was the youngest of 5 boys. He brought joy to all he encountered and will be remembered for his love of his brothers, airplanes, the moon, animals, babies and for giving great hugs. He was looking forward to the arrival of his new sibling. He didn't talk yet, but would say a few words when coaxed by his big brother Kirby. His favorite songs were, Jesus Paid it All, Jesus Loves Me, The Wiseman Built His House Upon the Rock, and Only a Boy Named David.
He is deeply loved and missed by his parents Quinten and Evie Graber and his four brothers: Kirby Dean, 13, Stacy Brian, 11, Teryn Ray, 7, and Rusty Cole, 5, all of Brooksville, MS. He is also survived by his grandparents: Paul and Julia Graber of Brooksville, MS, Ben Hilty of South Boston, VA, and Cindy Hilty of Wheatland, WY, great grandparents Silva Graber of Macon, MS, Margaret Heatwole of Bridgewater, VA, Cretora Hilty of Harrisonburg, VA and Levi and Elmina Lee of Macon, MS. He is also survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins who doted on him and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather Ben Graber, great grandfather Oren Heatwole, great grandfather Robert Hilty and his uncle, Brian Graber.

April 3, 1959 - February 21, 2021
Vera M. Graber, age 61 of Goshen, IN, passed away at 2:24pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Goshen General Hospital. Mrs. Graber was born on April 3, 1959 in Bremen, IN to Victor and Fannie (Kauffman) Graber.
Vera was a lifetime area resident and graduated from NorthWood High School. She also attended Goshen College and Ivy Tech. Vera was passionate about her work at the Speedway on Lincolnway in Goshen, IN as a food specialist. Mrs. Graber attended Griner Church in Middlebury. Vera was very personable and enjoyed fellowship with other people, never missing an opportunity to show Christ’s love to her friends and family. Most of all, Vera enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Vera is survived by a daughter, Tawna Bair of Goshen, IN; a son, Matthew (Evelyn) Robison of Milford, IN; 4 grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Graber of Nappanee, IN.
Mrs. Graber was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; sisters, Mary Kauffman and Karen Graber-Sergent; brothers Joseph R. Graber, Herbert Graber, and Henry L. Graber.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from Noon-2pm at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, IN, with funeral services taking place at 2pm. Greenawalt, Fred
February 24, 1950 - August 10, 2021
Fred Greenawalt, 71, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born February 24, 1950 in Goshen to Howard and Esther (Kauffman) Greenawalt. They preceded him in death.
On December 29, 1972 he married Delores Gangwer in Goshen.
She survives along with two children, Adam (Stacy) Greenawalt of Elkhart and Hannah (Travis Niles) Hossler of Goshen; five grandchildren, Lisa and Michael Wood, Donald Hossler, Emily Woolwine and Brooklyn Chupp; a much-anticipated great-grandson, Jaxon, due this October; and a sister, Jane (Joe) Farrell of Goshen.
Fred was an active member of East Goshen Mennonite Church. He received his bachelor’s degree from Goshen College in 1972 and worked for Schult Homes, Middlebury, as vice president of finance for 26 years. His interest in people and gifts of persuasion led him back to school where he received his law degree from Thomas Cooley School of Law.
Fred enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and popcorn any day of the week. He was a long-time volunteer at Greencroft. Fred spent many hours on the phone connecting with those that were isolated during the pandemic.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, August 22, at 2 p.m. at East Goshen Mennonite Church, 2019 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen. Pastors Naomi Yoder and Merle Hostetler will officiate.

Groff, Lois Ann Martin
February 16, 1972 - December 22, 2021
Lois Ann Groff, 49, of Pittsgrove, NJ passed on to her eternal reward on December 22, 2021. She was born on February 16, 1972 in Ephrata, PA, the daughter of the late Melvin F. Martin and Miriam (Good) Martin of Ephrata, PA. She became the loving wife of J. Merlin Groff, son of the late Elwood & Ruthann Groff. They celebrated their 28th anniversary in July.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three sons, Jonathan,
Chadwin, and Carlin, two daughters, Jennica and Jalissa, all at home, a granddaughter
Adrianna Groff, four brothers, Melvin Lee (Joanne) of Williamsburg, PA, Mark (Pauletta) of Rochester, WA, Matthew of Pinegrove, PA, Michael (Luela) of Culver, OR, one sister Joan Martin of Lititz, PA and a brother-in-law, Daniel (Debbie) Weaver of Lititz, PA. She was preceded in death by a son Justin, and a sister Rose Weaver, widow of Paul Torkelson.
She was a faithful member of the Vineland Mennonite Church where services will be held Wednesday 12/29 2:00-4:00 PM & 6:00-8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be conducted 10 AM on Thursday 12/30 at the Vineland Mennonite Church, 1127 W. Garden Rd., Vineland, NJ with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Groff, Norma E. Martin
November 1, 1927 - July 23, 2021
Norma E. Groff, 93 of Denver, formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021. Born in Salisbury Township, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Mary Benner Martin. Norma was the wife of the late Allen S. Groff who passed away in May of 2003. She worked at the Manheim Auto Auction for 39 years and the Garden Spot Auto Auction for 29 years as a cook. She was a member of Mt. Hope Mennonite Church, Manheim.
Surviving are her three children: Marian M. wife of Paul D. Keener of Dry Run, Wilmer M. husband of Linda Weaver Groff of Manheim and Mary M. Martin of Manheim, nine grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren and five siblings: Joseph B. husband of Betty Ann Watts Martin, Manheim, Dorothy B. Martin, Kinzers, Elvin L. husband of Lois Weaver Martin, Kinzers, Mary Ann wife of Ray Beyer, Lititz and Irene wife of Lamar Reed, Lititz. Preceding her in death besides her husband were six siblings: Paul B. Martin, twins Clair S. and Carl D. Martin, Elsie B. Martin, Esther Mae Farrel and Lee B. Martin.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at Mt. Hope Mennonite Church, 1969 Mastersonville Road, Manheim on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service. Interment will be private in Mt. Hope Mennonite Cemetery. Paul R. Groff, 72, of Stevens, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at home.
He was born in Ephrata to the late Harold W. and Mary Jane (Gentzler) Groff and was the husband of Laverne N. (Seibel) Groff with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
He was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church (Biblical Mennonite Alliance), Narvon. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons and siblings.
Paul worked as a truck driver for Keystone Mills for 37 years.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by a son, Brian L., husband of Jamie L. (Horst) Groff of Denver; 2 grandsons, Skylar Horst and Karson Groff; 5 siblings, Richard G., husband of Mildred (Myer) Groff of Lititz, Martha Jane, wife of Richard S. Burkholder of Stevens, Donald E., husband of Arlene (Nolt) Groff of Stevens, Kenneth D., husband of Irene (Gehman) Groff of Myerstown, and Marvin R., husband of Anna L. (Gehman) Groff of Stevens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harold, Jr., Robert L., and Larry L. Groff.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday, December 31st, from 9 to 10 AM at the Martindale Mennonite (Brick) Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in the Martindale Mennonite Cemetery.

Grove, Doris Mast
August 11, 1938 - January 31, 2021
Doris Mast Grove, 82, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mrs. Grove was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Princess Anne County and was a daughter of the late Norman and Nora Virginia Smucker Mast.
She was a teacher’s aide in Henrico County Schools. She enjoyed flowers, baking, reading, vacations at the beach and being with her friends. She was a member of Ridgeway Mennonite Church.
On June 5, 1965, she married Cecil Emory Grove. He passed away Oct. 9, 2019.
Surviving are her children, Andy Grove and wife, Tina, of Dickenson, Md., and Diann Beach and husband, Jeremy, of Harrisonburg; siblings, Bob Mast and wife, Esther, of Akron, N.Y., Betty Hertzler of Powhattan, James Mast and wife, Cindy, Chester Mast and wife, Jerri, all of Chesapeake; brother-in-law, Herbert Wenger of Chesapeake; and grandchildren, Dylan Grove, Brittany Grove, Blair Grove, Austin Grove, Simon Beach and Nolan Beach.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grove was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Wenger, and one brother-in-law, Ray Hertzler.
At her request, the body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Eleanor L. Guenin, 81, of Topeka, passed away at 4:10 pm on Friday, July 16, [2021] at Avalon Village Nursing Care, Ligonier. She was born on November 6, 1939 in Souderton, PA, to Mahlon and Edna (Lapp) Detweiler. On April 6, 2010 in Clinton Frame Church she married Walt Guenin, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are 10 stepchildren; five step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice (Clarence) Whirledge of Middlebury; two brothers, Walter (Gladys) Detweiler and Darwin Detweiler both of Souderton, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sisters, Lorraine L. Mast and Gloria Waleyewski.
Eleanor had worked as a seamstress at Carriage, Millersburg for many years. She was a member of Clinton Frame Church and enjoyed listening to Christian music. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and watching birds.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Saturday July 24, at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 CR 35 Goshen. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Eden Cemetery, Topeka. Services will be conducted by the Clinton Frame Church Pastoral Team. Memorials may be given to Clinton Frame Brotherhood Fund.
Gunden, Ruth E.
September 11, 1930 - March 25, 2021
Ruth E. Gunden, 90, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born September 11, 1930, the youngest of nine children born to Chris “C.J.” and Agnes (Albrecht) Gunden in Goshen.
Survivors include a sister, Doris (Carl) Metzler of Goshen; a brother, Donald Gunden of Myerstown, Pennsylvania; and a multitude of extended family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elva Huneryager and Lois Gunden Clemens; and four brothers, Orville, Cleland, Elton and Ralph Gunden.
A life-long area resident, Ruth was an advocate for education and sporting opportunities for women and girls at all levels.
Ruth graduated valedictorian of her high school class and went on to study at Goshen College where in 1952 she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She earned a master’s and doctorate in physical education from the University of Iowa. She used those degrees to teach in the Goshen Community Schools for a year and at Goshen College from 1953-1994.
The Ruth E. Gunden Fieldhouse is named in her honor in recognition of her years of services as a “pioneer” in women’s athletics within the Mennonite college world and as a coach and teacher at Goshen College. During her career she coached softball, volleyball, basketball and tennis while teaching physical education at the college. In the early years of women’s athletics at Goshen College her teams competed against Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame Universities. In addition to teaching and coaching, Ruth was heavily involved in related professional organizations.
As the college’s first female SST leader in 1971 to Jamaica, Ruth’s interest and involvement invigorated her leadership in future international students’ educational opportunities at Goshen College. She went on to serve as the SST Director from 1988 until her retirement in 1994. She was able to see much of the world and developed a special affinity with Chinese scholars.
She was a longtime active member of College Mennonite Church.
Private family services are being held with a public memorial service to follow at a later date.
